Current Accelerator client list a reflection of hard work and dedication year-round

December 20, 2010

The graphic says it all.

When Orange County IDA Chairman Jim Petro, Attorney Phil Crotty and Executive Director James O’Donnell realized the benefits of a business accelerator, creating real jobs, real close to home was their number one priority since Day One.

Enterprise Development Director Peter Gregory and Client Services Specialist Kelly Reilly work tirelessly to help our clients improve their day-to-day operations and raise the bar for their long-term goals, and the fact that we now have 13 clients and tenants at the Accelerator is a testament to their dedication to the cause.

Among the Accelerator, its tenants and its clients, 43 high-tech jobs have been created on the first floor at 4 London Avenue in New Windsor, N.Y. That’s 43 people who are deploying their professional skills to help early-stage start-ups in Orange County flourish. These innovative firms could one day employ up to 400 professionals.

We don’t call ourselves the Intersection of Capital, Talent…and Innovation for nothing. Here, our clients have access to the greatest minds in Orange County, early-stage start-up capital and a host of high-tech technologies.

Remember… We are in business for your business. Maybe one day your logo will takes its place in our circle of innovation.

Bringing valuable knowledge to the Orange County business community

December 13, 2010

Saturday marked the end of the 58th week of Orange County Business Accelerator. We have implemented 31 educational events that have been attended by nearly 1,000 people since opening in October 2009. Topics ranging from cloud computing, patent protection, market research, customer satisfaction, SBA and small business lending, business plan development, site search implementation,  social media marketing, and more, have been detailed since the inception of our first speaker series, the Entrepreneur Knowledge Series.

Please see below for a quick recap on some of our recent events:

DP Sales Pro owner Debra Pearlman outlines sales tactics and techniques for Pop-up Knowledge Series event attendees on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at the Accelerator. Nearly two dozen interested members of the private and public sector from around the Hudson Valley attended the seminar.

Over two dozen businessmen and women from around the Hudson Valley attended the Entrepreneur Knowledge Series event on Wednesday, Dec. 1, titled “What You Don’t Know When Setting Up A Business Can Hurt You.” Attorneys Gary M. Schuster, Mark A. Krohn and Sandford R. Altman, all of Jacobowitz & Gubits, LLP, educated attendees on the do’s and don’t’s of early-stage startup development.

Steve Caccavo, of Constructive Business Solutions, educates Tuesday, Nov. 16 Entrepreneur Knowledge Series attendees on “The Three Biggest Mistakes That Business Owners Make.” The original speaker series continues to draw large crowds to the Accelerator, as it provides great value to businesses new and seasoned.

Accelerating your marketing and public relations efforts

December 6, 2010

The Accelerator has remained proactive in its marketing and public relations efforts since Day One – a philosophy that has yielded tremendous results in our first year of operation. We are nearing capacity with 12 early-stage innovators and have filled our co-working suite with nearly a half-dozen associate clients. These companies currently employ nearly 40 workers inside the Accelerator, with projections of 250-300 upon graduation.

From our grand opening in October 2010 to announcing our latest resident clients Array Optronix and Frugaldoo, reaching out to our publics – the media, the community, public officials, potential clients – has been a top priority. Engaging and educating our publics (used in the plural form because there are multiple groups to which we target our messaging) on a consistent basis with information on topics such as new clients, new programs, or visits from our supporting public officials, is just as important as paid advertising in the grand scheme of things.

Just take a look at this collage of news articles below that have been prompted by strong public relations…

Media advertising has also been a great tool in the Accelerator’s toolbox. Last year, the Accelerator placed advertisements announcing our grand opening to attract interested parties. Throughout the year, the Accelerator has placed numerous ads in local and regional media to court innovative thinkers and entrepreneurs.

Most recently, the Accelerator has begun a more targeted advertising campaign in regional airports in the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas. We’ve placed oversized scrolling displays at Westchester County Airport and Albany International Airport, and a digital display in the terminal at Stewart International Airport. Together, the three airports service nearly 4 million passengers on a yearly basis.

This scrolling display sits at the terminal inside Albany International Airport- just one of three advertisements placed at major regional airports in and around the Hudson Valley this year.

An integrated marketing and public relations campaign has proven to be a great asset to the Accelerator over the past year. With much thanks to our marketing and public relations partners at Focus Media, and the dedication team at the Orange County IDA, the sky’s the limit!
